Obituary - Tony Brunskill
Tony Brunskill sadly passed away last week.
Tony was a man, many of our older members will have great memories of.
An extremely likeable, competetive cricketer and great company in the bar after the game, he was one of the true characters to have played at Brook Lane.
The higlhights of Tonys cricketeing career was as follows ....
6 seasons at Formby CC 1972-1977
1 season at Wallasey CC 1978
2 seasons at Ormskirk CC 1979 and 1980
He was a very capable offspin bowler and captured 187 wickets
for Formby in 112 matches, a further 30 for Wallasey in 17 matches
and 26 more for Ormskirk in 27 appearances, a total of 243 wickets
in 156 matches.
He also scored a total of 487 runs.
His best bowling was 6-32 v Wallasey in 1974
His highest score 26* v Neston and 26* v Bootle both in 1974
His finest moments in his career also came in 1974 when he was
selected to play for the Liverpool Competition XI in the Steiner Cup
Competition. Here he captured 5 for 22 at Consett v the Tyneside
Senior League in the quarter final. Another 2 for 21 in the semi final
at Knypersley versus the N Staffs and South Cheshire League
and a magnificent 3 for 26 in the final at Aigburth versus the Durham Senior League.
Our thoughts are with his wife Gill, and children, Katy and Iain at this sad time.
